Merry Christmas from Parents Reaching Parents

December 24, 2009

My fellow parents,

On behalf of Janet Boynes Ministries and Parents Reaching Parents, I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas!  Yet I know as I write these words, many of you have heavy hearts.  Perhaps you son or daughter has chosen not to celebrate Christmas with your family.   Maybe your son or daughter will be celebrating with you, but your relationship is strained.  I understand your pain, but most importantly, our Heavenly Father does as well!  He is active in our children’s lives stirring their hearts and working in ways that only He knows.  We must place our trust in Him.  He will be victorious!

Heavenly Father, this is a difficult time for parents with children wandering in the wilderness.  Our hearts are heavy and the pain is unbearable at times. We know you understand for You love our children even more than we do. As Paul tells us in Phil 4:6-7, help us not to be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, may we present our requests to You.  Please give us your peace, which transcends all understanding and guard our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus as we joyfully celebrate the greatest gift of all, your Son, our Savior, Jesus.

Merry Christmas!

Discussion: Living by God’s Word

October 25, 2009

Today I had a conversation with my prodigal daughter.  As we were talking about what was going on in her life, something she said hit me like a ton of bricks.  The enemy (who does not deserve to have the ‘e’ capitalized in my humble opinion) began telling me ‘Give up, I have her now!  You will never win.   She is mine!’  I cried out to God saying ‘Lord, bring her back to you. Restore our beloved daughter.   She is drifting further into the lifestyle. Please do something!’

Just then, I walked into my kitchen and I saw it – the plaque with the familiar verse that is one of many to which I cling.  Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.  Once again I am reminded my hope is in Him and He is at work even if I cannot see it.  Of that I am certain.  Praise God!

What Bible verses are giving you strength and comfort on your journey? Please share your favorites with other parents.

Discussion: Coping with a gay child

October 11, 2009

“Mom, I’m gay.”   Three simple words that changed my life forever.  Do you have a child living the gay lifestyle?   How are you coping?  Whether this is a new discovery or you have been walking this path for a long time, please share your story.

Hello from Parents Reaching Parents

October 10, 2009

Welcome to Parents Reaching Parents, a blog designed for parents with children struggling with same sex attraction. We are a community of believers in Jesus Christ with children involved in the gay lifestyle. We have created this blog in conjunction with Janet Boynes Ministries to connect parents across the country for encouragement, support and prayer.

We pray this blog will:

  • Answer your questions about homosexuality
  • Provide support from parents just like you all across the country
  • Encourage you to grow in your faith
  • Offer hope for your child struggling with same sex attraction
  • Help you understand how you may be involved in educating our churches about homosexuality
  • Provide prayer for you and your family

May God use this community of Parents Reaching Parents to provide encouragement to you as you trust in Him.
